WHEN Gill Mayes, husband Paul and son Louis, eight, moved into their new household in Tunbridge Wells, the primary task that jumped out at them was tackling a tacky bathroom. Unchanged due to the fact the Seventies, the sludge green bathroom suite and drab pink h2o lily tiles anxiously necessary a makeover.
Gill had a firm plan of what she needed from the start. "I held a daring colour scheme in brain and desired a clean, crisp, fresh new feel to the bathroom. I also wanted to embody a spacious shower and a separate bath with lights methods for stress-free bathing," says Gill, 39.
The area was smaller and space was tight but Gill is an inside designer and doing work with her company spouse Sally Craig, 44, she handled herself as her individual customer and they put into use all their ingenuity to clear up the issue. The space in a cupboard in an adjacent bedroom was "stolen" by repositioning the wall, gaining an excess metre of width. The scorching h2o tank, which could not be moved, was replaced with a contemporary slimline a person, which gave just enough area to slot in the shower cubicle.
The doorway from the landing was moved for much better accessibility, building place for a elegant radiator and towel heater.
There wasn't even ample depth for a typical vanity unit but Gill needed to hide ugly plumbing and bathroom clutter. The total-dimension handbasin was cut into the worktop and a circular mirror with dressing room-design lights previously mentioned functions very well in this kind of a modest area.
The elementary black and white theme was highlighted with brilliant splashes of coloured glass tiles in the recesses in the shower and over the bath. Gill complimented this with brightly-coloured towels from M&S.
The lbs 4,000 funds was stored to a minimal by sourcing fittings, shower, taps and a radiator from discount suppliers and Superior Street retailers. "I am in reality happy we received everything I wished into my new bathroom," states Gill.
